About Pegasus Shiatsu

We are a new company, formed early in 2009, but we draw on age-old, proven oriental practices. Pegasus Shiatsu is a sole trading name used by Carol Walker, for the practice of Equine Shiatsu, which operates within a network of local Shiatsu Practitioners within East Anglia. Be assured that Carol is a fully qualified practitioner in Equine Shiatsu.

Our Logo:

The Pegasus Shiatsu logo came about through a process of looking for a recognisable name and image and combining the word 'Shiatsu', which we have done in Japanese.  The result is a blend of ancient Greek mythology with Chinese and Japanese culture, but there is no myth about Shiatsu - it does benefit horses, see the testimonials via the link above.

Carol Walker graduated with a Practitioner Dipolma in Equine Shiatsu from the Hands on Horses School of Equine Shiatsu

The study was over four years and included extensive practical demonstration of shiatsu on horses, and horsemanship.  To qualify as a recognised practitioner Carol was also assessed in her level of understanding  of equine anatomy, physiology and Shiatsu theories.  Through the four-year course over 300 treatments were carried out, written up and assessed, with final submission of two detailed case studies.

Carol owns two horses, Fred and Barney, and it was through observing Shiatsu treatments on them (innocently booked as 'back treatments') that she realised how much her horses enjoyed the massage and how they communicated with the practitioner in telling him what they wanted.  Carol strives for that optimum level of communication with the horses she treats.

Carol is committed to the use of Shiatsu as a complementary therapy, because it is a non-invasive and non-confrontational approach which benefits both horse and owner.
